It is fall. When I lived in Vermont I loved the fall colors. I would pick up ‘special’ Maple leaves and put them on my desk. Eventually the colors would fade and they would crumple up and get brittle. I even tried ironing them between pieces of wax paper but that changed the color and the vibrancy as well. Every fall I would face the same dilemma.
Fast forward 30 + years, I live in Hawaii. I still have wonderful memories of beautiful fall colors. In my mind’s eye the colors are probably even more beautiful than they were in real life. So what does this have to do with your life you ask? Everything and nothing.
Life is and then we tell ourselves a story
It is our story that really matters, after all it creates our experience of reality and dictates our choices. A few months ago I was working with a woman who had been trying to renew her passport for years. When the UK decided to no longer be part of the EU that need became critical. She was interested in archetypes. So I suggested she take a fairy godmother with her and she decided to also take a diplomat.
My suggestion was to spend her train ride bonding with the two of them, especially the fairy godmother because she was very familiar with using magic. She went in with her packet of forms and came out with a new passport. Since she had been trying for years the result amazed her.
Years ago when I was pretty much unemployable I took the goddess with me to an interview. Had her sit right next to me on a pile of boxes (the interview was in the stockroom). I used my imagination to feel her presence and I got the job.
I later became friends with the district manager that hired me. She told me when they discussed the rather long list of applicants ‘that Susan Gregg’ kept coming up. They just all liked me seemingly for no reason at all.
Is your story for you or against you?
Often times we don’t even realize we have a story, we assume that what is happening is just the way life is. We don’t realize we can change the story and in the process change the results we are getting in our lives.
Are you struggling in any area of your life? Notice what you say about what’s happening. Perhaps write down what’s been happening as if it is a short story happening to a character that happens to have the same name as you.
“We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same.”
Carlos Castaneda
What part have you been playing in your life?
Take some time and think about it:
Are you the hero who always saves the day or the surf who slaves away, never getting ahead?
Are you the beloved or the scorned?
Playing with archetypes can be a fun and easy way to change your life and begin getting the results you want.
Is it time for a little fairy godmother action in your life?
Just a quick reminder. My November Hawaiian retreat is all about gratitude and working with archetypes. There are a few spots left. Why not come and become amazing you you were always meant to be.
As always love to read your comments. What archetype have you been playing and what role would you like to change that too?
With love, curiosity and gratitude,
Susan
it was a very cool way to get a job Susan-this is a nice interesting post
I thought so too – goddess bless so to speak!
Love the idea of taking a fairy godmother with me whenever I need assistance. Thanks for the suggestion. Will definitely use it.
Fairy godmothers, the goddess, actually who ever works for you!
Angels on your shoulders,
Susan
