Life is magical
Gandhi is credited with saying, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Wonderful advice and it makes a great bumper sticker but what he actually said is:
“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi
The way I sum it up for myself is there is no out there.
So what do you do if you don’t like what’s going on in your life? Changing the world is like trying to sweep the ocean out with a broom.
But changing how you think
It is so much easier to look at your filter system and change that. When I first began to realize everything was in my life by invitation I fought and kicked and screamed.
No way had I invited all those horrible things into my life!!! But, then I changed the way I viewed those events and I was grateful.
The events in my life illuminated my beliefs, agreements, assumptions and attitudes, my filter system in all its glory. Those events allowed me to see my limiting beliefs and I could change them.
Once I was willing, I could clearly see where love lived and where judgment and fear roamed. Love expands and fear contracts.
Changing your beliefs, agreements, assumptions and attitude
Change can seem daunting. We are so accustomed to seeing life through our filter system we just believe that’s the way life is.
People often work with me because they want to find their soul mate. So many people have a belief that they must find the love of their lives in order to have love. The truth is that until we fully love and honor ourselves loving, supportive relationships remain illusive.
Once you’re aware of your filter system change can become easy and effortless. The irony is seeing our own filter system is far from easy because it is so familiar, we really believe the stories we’ve been telling ourselves. That’s just the way life is.
Making life easy and effortless
Several years ago I made easy and effortless my mantra. The ripple effects of that decision continues to amaze me.
Have an amazing day unless you have plans otherwise.
