How simply taking a deep breath and pausing can change your life
Unless we have mastered the skill of quieting our mind we talk to ourselves, endlessly. The problem with that is we believe ourselves.
Your mind was never meant to be in charge. You are the energy that gives life to your body. You are limitless, eternal and immortal. You are pure love and light and laughter. It is your mind that finds it impossible to be in the moment.
When you align yourself with your mind life is often hard, you are aware of an endless list of limitations and there seems to be a lot to worry about. Fear lurks around, telling what you can’t do and reminding you how unsafe this physical world really is.
In comes the gift of pausing
Pausing is an amazingly simple practice that can make a huge difference in your life. Periodically, during the day simply pause and notice your thoughts about what is happening around you. For a few moments just breathe and observe. Ask yourself a few simple questions:
How can I see this through the eyes of love?
What would my spirit have me do right now?
Pause long enough to hear the answers arise from the core of your being and then consciously choose your thoughts. Just pause and listen. With a little bit of practice you will be able to discern the difference between your mind and the gentle, loving, expansive guidance of your soul.
The difference that makes in your life is exponential and it starts very simply by just pausing, taking a deep breath and observing.
Try it for a few days, see what happens. People often report resistance and occasionally fear and an incredible feeling of freedom as they continue the practice. The resistance and fear is just your mind trying to stay in control.
I’d love to see your comments, questions, thoughts and feelings in the comment section. This is an amazingly simply process that is very powerful so let’s talk about it. I’d love to support you as you practice pausing.

I just like this article so much. Indeed there are times we have to pause and let our brain relax. Specially now that we lost our Beautiful Jack Russell last December. We considered her our daughter. Now she is an Angel her name is Luna. I would like to know what happen when we die? Does the White Light really exists? Or we transfor in something Ethereal? Thank you.
Glad you now have an angel dog watching over you. The love of an animal is so rich and rewarding. One of the things I love about the Toltec tradition is they divide the world into the knowable and the unknowable. What happens when we die is part of the unknowable and I believe the essence of who and what we are is eternal, immortal and infinite. We are pure love and the energy of creation so I believe we go on forever.

This is actually an excellent idea. I do a similar practice using A Course in Miracles daily lessons. It’s pretty amazing how effective the simplest practices can be.
I loved the Course in Miracles and used the daily exercises in the 80’s.
Thanks for taking time to comment.
