Why the Apprenticeship Class?

Apprenticeship helps you make big changes you really can’t do alone. Every time you decide to change your life, you’re making a commitment. And depending on quite a few factors, you’ll either succeed, or totally flame out and fail to meet your goals.

When it comes to changing your habits and creating better ones, I’ve found that one of the most critical components of success is the support you get from others who are doing the same thing. Combine that with an experienced guide who’s been there before and can help you along the way, and you have a wonderful map that will help you arrive exactly where you’re headed.

Frequently our friends and family will be supportive and want to help us, and they’ll certainly be well-intentioned in the best cases, but they have many filter layers obscuring their view of you and simply can’t see you as clearly as they think.

They can end up holding you back, or even sabotaging you in the worst-case scenarios if you don’t have the tools in place to accept them as they are and not be distracted. When you don’t have the support you really need, it can be really, really tough to change your life and succeed. Some rare folks can go it alone successfully, but most of us make vastly more and better progress when we journey with others.

When you have the support of peers who are making the same commitment to change, it’s like a door opens up and a glowing pathway of light leads you easily through what was formerly a dark and troublesome landscape of change and improvement—truly, with friends and an experienced guide on the same pathway, the sky’s the limit!

How To Find Your Own Path to Personal Freedom

We can make all the resolutions and promises we want, but real change rarely happens until we’re willing to go outside our comfort zone. The unfamiliar and untried is usually frightening and that’s normal. What we need is a safe place to practice getting outside our comfort zone; a place where we can test our ability to commit to our future and receive warm support for our efforts rather than a negative or cynical response which can happen when we voice our dreams to family or friends.

One of the most powerful ways to get out of your comfort zone with your goals and dreams is to tell someone else about them; to make a commitment to others in a safe, private group filled with loving and generous people who are, like you, also on the path to joy and peace. When we work with a group and tell others about our goals and plans, it sets in motion a wave of action that makes change far more likely. And not just temporary change, but real, lasting change which is really the whole point of any program about creating a better life.

The Online Group Has Proven to Be a Major Plus!

A number of years ago I created what I called the tele-apprenticeship program. I wanted to reach out to people who didn’t live here in Hawaii in a meaningful, intimate, and ongoing way so I decided to create this long distance community. I wasn’t sure if I could create the same loving environment I experienced during my own apprenticeship as well as in the groups and workshops I’ve led through the years, but my students wanted me to try. It turned out even better than I’d planned. It was a perfect match for everyone who wanted the group experience, but couldn’t participate in person.

There are some ways in which an online meeting space is even better than an in-person group. All you need is a phone and/or a computer and you can be a part. Sometimes it might be intimidating to speak out and I’ve found that there’s something about extended ature of the online group that brings us all together and helps everyone feel safe and eager to participate. Yes, like any new group or experience, it can still be a little nerve wracking in the beginning, but I can’t wait for you to discover how quickly you get over that initial worry.

We meet Sunday evenings by phone and I have watched people’s lives transform and the magic return to their lives. I’ve watched participants in the program begin to understand and experience, sometimes for the very first time in their lives, real personal freedom.

Creating a Sacred Space for Real Change and Deep Connection…

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to study with Don Miguel and his mother Sister Sarita many years ago. I was able to spend long hours with them; talking, asking questions, processing, growing, and changing. I treasure those years we spent together. In fact, it resulted in my first book called, Dance of Power and so much more.

After I had completed my apprenticeship with Don Miguel and his mother, I knew that I would, one day, create a similar space for others. A safe, powerful, loving space in which to learn and grow and find our paths.

The online apprenticeship class is marvelous for creating deep connections and I love the contact I have with students. The intimacy and love is fertile ground for personal transformation and growth and the physical distance makes no difference at all in our ability to connect and create deep and life-long relationships with one another.

How to Succeed: Personal Responsibility is a Powerful Secret

Personal responsibility is a large part of this process. You are learning a new way of being in the world. We learn by practicing. If you need help, or are confused, just ask. There is no error in asking questions. I suppose if there could be an error to make, it would be in NOT asking a question. We will focus on developing your gentle, loving, and nurturing inner voice.

Working with a mentor makes the process much easier

Action is the key to this program as action is the key to life. If you want your life to change, you must take different actions. This online class is a wonderful place to practice taking different actions because it is safe and you are among others who want you to succeed and are setting the same intent as you.

I encourage you to throw yourself fully into this experience—you are learning a new language and it’s the language of love and dominion. You will be amazed at how your life changes once you take actions and think in dominion. Fear will fade and you will finally become aware of the love that always surrounds you.

When I began my own journey I was encouraged to ask questions and, above all else, ask for help when I needed it. It took practice, but I eventually understood that asking questions and working with others was really changing things and making all the difference—it turned out to be the reason my eventual successes arrived sooner, or sometimes at all. Figuring out things by myself often kept me trapped in my filter system.

Spaces are now available (but limited) in this dynamic group

I have decided to start opening this group up occasionally throughout the year. (I haven’t set it in stone since it depends, in part, on the group.) I won’t keep the classroom doors open all year because each time a new group joins, it’s important to help all the new folks feel welcome and get settled. If there are too many people constantly joining, it disrupts the class for everyone else and it keeps me from providing a great space for current students. 

How long does the class last?

The length of time you stay is up to you—there is no beginning and ending. It is more organic than that. Some people stay for a few months while others stay for years. As long as you are getting benefit and are enjoying the loving support you stay.

It can take years or months to clear out your filter system, it all depends upon how much effort you put into the exercises each week. And some people stay to help others along their way—this is what I mean when I talk about the way it becomes a spiritual family.

Do I have to commit to a minimum time or number of months/payments?

This is similar to the previous question so that answer also applies here, but I think many were worried about being able to cancel easily and whether there was a penalty of any type. You are only obligated on a month-to-month basis and you can cancel any time you want. So no, there’s no minimum number of months that you have to commit to. But you do need to tell me at least 10 days before your next month’s membership is due to be charged so that you aren’t charged for that next month.

Remember that you should commit in your own mind to working through at least 90 days of exercises and group meetings. Like most longer-term goals in life, results are not instant and doubly true with life-changing programs like this. It takes patience and a loving, genuine commitment to yourself to see your way through to the other side of your filter system.

What does the class consist of?

• There is a teleclass every Sunday evening at 9:30 PM Eastern Time.You call a number in Kansas and we all get together in our virtual classroom. We have a short check in, I ask for questions, then I lead a guided meditation, people share their experiences and then I teach class. We end the class with a question and answer period. If I am traveling I record a class ahead of time and then you will call in to discuss it.
• You become a member of an active e-group where you can ask questions and share with one another.
• Each week there are suggested exercises that are posted to the e-group.
• The class is recorded each week and you can download it so you can listen again.

The investment for the monthly Apprenticeship Class is just $150 a month. This includes a class every Sunday night, the e-group, the recordings, and the discount on private phone sessions—everything listed just above.

Money can be a touchy subject in any relationship. I know when I first started pursuing my spiritual path I had a judgment about people charging for spiritual teachings. Many people express the same sentiments to me and I can certainly understand their feelings. It took me a while to understand the reasons and the energetic behind this process too.

I don’t want money to be an issue in your journey with me and I hope this story that was told to me will help you as it helped me.

I had an elder explain it to me in this way…

In the old days the medicine woman had all her needs meet by the tribe. Her living quarters were lovingly maintained by her students, she was always treated with great reverence and love. The tribe considered providing for her an honor and a privilege, not at all a burden.

Although it is a poor substitute for the love, honor, respect and abundance the healers and teachers of the past were given, money is our society’s medium of exchange—and this medium, although it appears to be simple and course on the surface is a subtle, energetic exchange as well.

I was told by this elder to always give that support with love and to see it as an honor and a privilege to be able to share that energy with another.

All in all, a good attitude to have whenever we exchange money. If we learn to handle money in this manner it will become our friend and be much more abundant in our lives.
