  3. This truly is amazing to see. It amazes me how much it can affect people when they see someone accomplish a dream they’ve wanted for so long. The one thing that upsets me about this entire thing with Susan Boyle is this whole “she doesn’t look the part” and this stupid “ugly duckling becomes a swan” stuff…

Honestly, all I believe it’s doing is showing how sick our society is. We are so worried about outer beauty that we can’t even accpect beauty like this without clearly stating that she is not “beautiful” by common meaning without our society. And it’s showing little kids that hey, you can be pretty too, all you need to do is have some mind boggeling talent!

We are all talented in some way, but I think we should all appreciate her for who she is, not pass judgements based on media hype. :P Thanks for sharing! Sorry for my little rant. Maybe I should post about it.

To me, that is what’s so wonderful about life. We get to so OUR perspective.

I experienced it totally differently. I saw the, “she didn’t look the part” as an incredible opportunity for us to see that our assumptions about people is how we create our own limitations.

After all one of the Four Agreements is Don’t make assumptions

  5. I guess that does carry with it a lot of truth :P . My only hope is that people take it as that. It does truly enable us to realize how silly our assumptions are and how much negativity they bring to us.

An interesting question would be to know the kind of assumptions people made about her prior to her singing, and how they felt after. I think “shock” would tell a lot about ourselves, and how we pass judgement when we really shouldn’t. Thanks for the quick reply! :) keep up the great work!
